Pawtuckett Recreation & Therapy Center

For my undergraduate thesis, we were to bring something that was needed to our community. We were to locate an existing building and transform it into the concept we chose. We had to thoroughly research our topic, find and explain why it was needed, and actually analyze the existing site conditions. This thesis included doing everything from the initial research and programming, schematics, design development, and construction documents which are linked below to view. I used Revit and Photoshop to model and render this project. Pawtuckett Recreation Center is a therapeutic recreation center providing services to people with cognitive, behavioral, and physical disabilities. The purpose of this center is to create an inclusive social environment for people with different abilities that will provide a place of comfort and happiness. Providing therapy will allow people to continuously learn how to cope with  and improve their abilities. Although Pawtuckett is a place for therapy, it is designed so that people do not feel as if they are coming to therapy; it is to make people with limited abilities feel as if they can do anything without any limitations. Therefore, the use of bright colors, cool graphics, and interesting architectural features create an uplifting and fun environment.
